This must be the stage of the building process where everything seems to be quick and easy. (From my armchair quarterback point of view, at least. All the males involved in this undertaking may beg to differ.)
Hard Working Men
This is the north mudroom wall, for anyone actually tracking. It will be our informal/back door entrance. A back door that faces the main road. Hmm. But as our house was built before Lindley Road was even on the map, it is what it is.
Sometimes I feel sorry for this crew of ours as they may feel just a bit under the microscope.
We watch them all day long.
Really. All day long.
And we take lots of pictures. Sorry fellas.
Here’s the south mudroom wall…and that window on the far right? That will be my kitchen sink window! Yay kitchen sink window! That was the only official change we had for our builder from the blueprints — to make that window larger than the prints specified. I am so glad we did.
Here’s why we did that — tada! This is the view out our kitchen sink window! SUPER happy about the view out this window (well, minus the dirt pile…that will be gone). I am sure I will never ever mind washing dishes standing at this sink.
Sigh… I just love my happy place.
And soon it will be my happy place with an actual working kitchen sink again! Whoop whoop. (That no kitchen sink thing lost its novelty some time ago.)
Back to all these new walls! Here is the garage taking shape.
You can see who the muscle is here, too.
Heave!
And you can see who the ham on the crew is too. Don’t worry Luke, I got your good side.
Here is the west side of the garage. You can see how we are framing in the garage doors, but we will actually hang two big windows there for the next two years, while we live in the garage.
Then add a little OSB board. (That’s Orientated Strand Board for you rookies like me.)
And look — trusses!
Thank you, Doug, Adam, Luke and Aaron “slash” Mookie, for smiling politely while we take action shots.
Thank you most of all for understanding that while this may be “just” an addition on an old farmhouse to some, it’s our dirt road farm.
It’s two middle-aged kids livin’ the dream.
xo
